I was raised in Kerala, which is a southern State in India. Kerala is a land rich in culture, history, and beauty. Kalaripayattu is an ancient martial art, which originated as a style in Kerala. The word kalari was then used to describe both a battlefield and a combat arena. Kalaripayattu is considered to be one of the oldest surviving fighting systems still in existence in the world. I went to my first class in 1999 at CVN Kalari Sangham, which is a highly respected school. The school is still existing in Trivandrum, Kerala, under the guidance of Sri CV Govindankutty Nair Gurukkal of CVN Kalarisangam.
Soon after, I was a full-time member of the CVN Kalari Demonstration Team. It took me nine years to learn Kalaripayattu properly, and thereupon I started to teach it to others. In 2005, I was part of the Kalari Sangham World Tour. A year later, in 2006, I did a theatre form, combining Kalaripayattu and Bharatanatyam. The plays were performed in almost every theatre in India, and did also spread out throughout Europe to some of the well-known theatres in Paris, Roma, Germany and Austria.
Throughout my journey, I had the pleasure to be introduced to yoga in 2002, by Padmini Ranganathan and her teacher, Shrimati Lakshmi Ranganathan, who is a senior teacher in Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai. Srimati Lakshmi Ranganathan taught me regular routines of asana, pranayama and meditation on a daily basis. I wanted to understand and learn more about the essence of Yoga, which is why I I moved to Mysore in 2006. In Mysore I spent six years learning Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Altogether I have today completed the Yoga Teacher Training Course, the Advance Teacher Training Course and Yoga Sādhanā Intensive Course in Sivananda Ashram in Neyyardam, Trivandrum. Furthermore, I do Kriya Yoga initiation from Srividya Ashram. Additionally I also teach Kriya Yoga. I have learned Lyengar Yoga Alignment & Adjustment from Jose Mathew, who is a certified teacher from Lyengar Yoga Centre in Pune.
Upon today I have been blessed to teach a variety of people yoga, including yoga teachers. Currently I do Teacher Training Courses in Shanti Yoga in Trivandrum, Mathatitu Yoga in Varkala and in other multiple other yoga centres. Lastly, I am currently teaching yoga classes in Agastya Heritage Ayurvedic centre in Kovalam.
